Homemade sushi!

Requirements

  • 450 g sushi rice
  • 5 dl water
  • 75 ml sushi vinegar
  • 8 nori sheets
  • Stuffing of your choice, such as cucumber strips, smoked salmon, tuna, avocado
  • Wasabi paste
  • Soy sauce

Preparation

Soak the rice in a bowl of water for a few minutes. Drain and wash the rice until the water is clear. Drain well. Put the rice with sufficient water in the rice cooker and cook until tender. Remove the lid from the cooker and cover with a clean tea towel. Leave to stand for 15 minutes. Spoon the rice into a bowl, sprinkle with the sushi vinegar and stir carefully. Keep stirring occasionally until the rice has cooled down slightly. Place a norivel sheet on a bamboo mat. Wet your fingers and spread a layer of rice 1 cm thick up to half of the norivel. Place the filling of your choice on top, moisten the end of the norivel and roll up tightly using the mat. Make all the rolls in the same way. Moisten the knife under the cold tap and cut the rolls into slices. Serve with the wasabi paste and soy sauce.
